Deveau to Help Consalvo in Boston Mayor’s Race

Mayoral Candidate Rob Consalvo with his new Deputy Campaign Manager Ed Deveau. Deveau has left his post as Senator Anthony Petruccelli’s Chief of Staff to serve on the Consalvo Campaign.

After 13 years in Senator Anthony Petruccelli’s office, Chief of Staff Ed Deveau will leave his post to become mayoral candidate Rob Consalvo’s Deputy Campaign Manager.

Deveau, who started out as a summer intern when Petruccelli was a State Representative, followed Petruccelli to the Senate where he has served as chief of staff since 2007. When Petruccelli was a member of the House Deveau served as his Legislative Aide after back-to-back stints as a summer intern.

“For years, Ed has served as my Chief of Staff and one of my closest advisors,” said Petruccelli.  If it was for any other reason that Ed was leaving, I would have urged him to stay, but knowing that Ed will be part of the team working to help Rob Consalvo become our next mayor makes it easier.   I have endorsed Consalvo’s candidacy for Mayor and I am proud that Ed has decided to make the commitment to work on the campaign full-time.  Rob is surging in fundraising and, as evidenced by bringing Ed onto the campaign, he is building the best campaign team in the race.”

Deveau will join Marcus Ferrell who will serve as Consalvo’s Campaign Manager.

“All across the city we are seeing more energy, more support and more encouragement for our campaign to make Boston better,” said Consalvo.  “With our political base stronger than ever, Ed Deveau’s grassroots organizing and political skills are just what we need to organize block-by-block, street by street in East Boston, the North End, Bay Village, South Boston, and Dorchester and across the entire city. With Ed on board and with Senator Petruccelli’s help we’ll be successful this fall.”

Deveau said he would be forever grateful for the opportunity that Petruccelli gave him but looks forward to the word ahead as part of the Consalvo team.

“Being able to go from East Boston to the State House was a life changing and humbling experience,” said Deveau. “There is nobody that works harder for the people he represents than Anthony Petruccelli and it was an honor to work and learn from him.”

As for going to work on the Consalvo campaign, Deveau said he is incredibly excited to work for a close friend.

“There is no doubt in my mind that he is the right choice for Mayor of Boston and there will be no better friend to East Boston,” said Deveau. “I know Rob will work hard as mayor to make Boston better. That’s why I am joining his team. The experience of working with Senator Petruccelli has prepared me well to take on the responsibilities as Deputy Campaign Manager.   I am excited that Senator Petruccelli and I will continue to work together to help get Rob elected.”

Deveau comes on board the Consalvo campaign as Consalvo is starting to demonstrate a surge of momentum in the race.  Last week, Consalvo’s 12th annual summer cookout drew more than 600 supporters.  On Sunday, Consalvo announced a surge in fundraising, with $144,000 raised in June.
