North End Crime Continues to Decrease

Crime statistics in the North End were down 16% for the month of January 2013, compared to January 2012.

This continues to be a downward trend since the community crime rate decrease 10% during 2012.

The North End compiled the best percentage in crime reduction in the entire city.

Much of the successful lowering of crime statistics stems from a terrific working relationship between police and residents who meet monthly at a local public safety meeting with District A-1 Boston Police Commanding Officer Captain Thomas Lee, Sergeant Tom Lema and Officer Ted Boyle.

The meetings are very informative and well attended. While police report on monthly crime statistics, offer tips and discuss other related issues relating to the community, residents express their opinions and offer recommendations relevant to activities and concerns in their neighborhood.

This strong relationship and communications between police and residents has apparently played a key role in reducing neighborhood crime.

Also contributing to this success is the positive assistance from the neighborhood’s three elected officials Senator Anthony Petruccelli, Representative Aaron Michlewitz and Boston City Councilor Sal LaMattina.

Teamwork makes things work, it’s the name of the game for success. Without question this is a winning team that gets things done quickly.
