NEMPAC Undergoes Changes

NEMPAC has undergone a number of changes in the last month. Matt Black, my predecessor, stepped down as President after 13 years of involvement with NEMPAC, during which time he created our website, designed our logo and worked tirelessly producing the NEMPAC plays.

Becca Griffin has also stepped down from the organization. During her tenure as Executive Director, Becca worked tirelessly to increase NEMPAC’s footprint to include numerous toddler and young children’s classes, school vacation and summer workshops, multiple concert series, the Before School Program at the Eliot School and community programming such as Pumpkin Painting on the Prado. We respect Becca very much for her consistent dedication and support in bringing arts programming to our neighborhood and families.

As the newly elected President of NEMPAC, it is my pleasure to announce that Sherri Snow has accepted our offer to be NEMPAC’s interim Executive Director. For many, Sherri is a familiar face at NEMPAC. She joined us in 2009 and has taught private voice, beginning piano, and music theatre. Sherri has maintained and encouraged growth in programs at NEMPAC recently working as program coordinator, overseeing the Music Theatre program, the Community Summer and Winter Concert Series, and the NEMPAC Opera Project.

Sherri’s professional background is perfectly suited to her new position. She holds a Master’s Degree in Opera from Longy School, of Music and is a current Cathedral Scholar at the St. Paul’s Cathedral in downtown Boston. She has also worked at State Street Corporation in Financial Asset Management. Sherri performs professionally as a soprano soloist singing both opera and jazz in the New England area, and also maintains a Private Voice Studio.

Our administrative team is complete with Courtney LaFlamme continuing as our Educational Outreach Coordinator, managing the Morning Program, several classes, and assisting in outreach programs and events in the community.

Rebecca Rapoport-Cole, a deeply admired NEMPAC Music Instructor, joins our administrative team to assist in Marketing and Communications and we are very excited to have her on board.

I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Sherri Snow on her new position and to thank Matt Black and Becca Griffin for their years of service and commitiment to NEMPAC.

We look forward to continuing to offer our wonderful music and arts programming to the residents of the North End/Waterfront and surrounding neighborhoods.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Sherri or me. We can be reached via the NEMPAC email (info@nempacboston.org) or feel free to leave a message at the NEMPAC office (617.227.2270).
