Indians Win Exciting Comeback Victory 14-13

A six run first inning gave the Tigers a 6-0 lead over the Indians in a NEAA Majors Baseball game at Langone Park.

It started with a leadoff double by Michael Leavitt, and a walk. Megan Leavitt reached on an infield single loading the bases with no outs. Before the inning was over DJ DiCenso, Charlie Alcott, Noah Ward, Alexis Saclia, Richard Pagliuca and William Parsons all collected RBIs for the 6-0 lead.

In the home half of the first the Indians rallied for three runs cutting the Tigers lead in half 6-3. Jase Cherchi singled, Nick Shea singled, Paul Szulic had an RBI single followed by a two run single by Zach Taieb.

The Tigers would go ahead 9-3 in the second with three consecutive bases load walks to Victoria DiCenso, DJ DiCenso and Edward Ardolino.

Victoria DiCenso slowed down the scoring striking out two Indian batters and getting a groundball for a 1, 2, 3 inning.

The Tigers made the score 13-4 in the fourth inning with RBIs from Michael Leavitt, Ardolino, Alcott and Megan Leavitt.

The Indians picked up a run in the fourth on three hits by Vinny Coppola, Fred Moseley and an RBI single by Thomas Moseley.

Fred Moseley struck out the side setting the stage for a powwow and a Indians uprising that produced seven runs and suddenly the score was 13-11.

Calvin Szulic and Jase Cherchi walked, Paul Szulic hit a two run single and Taieb singled home Paul Szulic, Coppola also singled followed by a 2 RBI single by Fred Moseley. Thomas Moseley and Brianna Woods walked loading the bases and Isabella Vilar, Domenic Orlando and Calvin Szulic followed with RBI walks.

The last inning (6th) started at 7:28pm just beating the two hour time limit and both teams realized it was now or never.

The Tigers failed to score in the top of the sixth setting the stage for an Indians attack that won the game.

The Indians first batter struck out. Nick Shea was hit by a pitch, Paul Szulic had an infield hit placing runners on first and second with one out. An error by the Tigers pitcher on a ground ball allowed two Indians to cross the plate tying the score at 13-13 with Taieb advancing to second. Coppola walked, both runners moved up on a wild pitch. Fred Moseley hit a screaming line drive to Ardolino who made a spectacular catch and tried to get the runner doubled up at second with Taieb scoring from third narrowly beating the throw to the plate.

Indians win 14-13.
