Mary DeRoma

Co-Owner of DeRoma Brothers Construction

Mary H. (Poznysz) DeRoma of Roslindale died on May 21. She was 91 years young.

The co-owner of DeRoma Bros. Construction, she will always be remembered for her loving and caring nature.

She was born September 8, 1919 in Boston’s North End. She was married to the late Andrew J DeRoma and was the sister of the late Ann (Poznysz) DeRoma and Bruno Poznysz; beloved mother of Carol (DeRoma) Stazinski of Alexandria, NH, Andrew DeRoma of Alexandria, NH, and Frederick DeRoma and his wife, Eileen Sullivan-DeRoma, of Braintree and is survived by 12 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements were by the Robert J. Lawler & Crosby Funeral Home, West Roxbury. Burial was in Forest Hills Cemetery. www.lawlerfuneralhome.com

Josephine Ciampi-McDuff

Former Proprietor of Tammy Sportswear

Josephine L. (Ciulla) Ciampi-McDuff of Revere, formerly of Boston’s North End, died on May 22.

She was a member of the Contractors Association of the International Garment Workers where she sat on the Board of Directors and the former proprietor Tammy Sportswear in Boston’s China Town.

She was the beloved wife of Raymond B. McDuff; devoted mother of James Ciampi of Danvers and step mother of Diane Newton of Peabody, David McDuff of Derry, NH, Jean DaRusso of Salem and Marie Engler of Florida; dear sister of the late Jennie Lochiatto, Stephen Ciulla, Jeanette Solazzo and Joseph Ciulla and is also survived by seven loving grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were by Paul Buonfiglio & Sons-Bruno Funeral Home, Revere. Burial was in Puritan Lawn Cemetery.

Bryant Niedner Thayer

Longtime North End resident

Bryant Niedner Thayer, a long time resident of the North End, died on May 17. He was 64 years old.

He is survived by his beloved daughter, Emily Thayer and her mother, Constance Hennessey, of Burlington; his beloved companion, Polly Scannell of W. Medford; his sister, Kim Streetman of Newton; his brother, Christian Barner of Kennebunkport, ME; and his stepfather, George Barner of Kennebunk, ME. He was the beloved son of the late Barbara Bryant Barner.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 5 at 5 p.m. at the Old North Church, 195 Salem St., Boston.
