NEWRA Committee Discusses Several Park Issues

NEWRA Parks and Open Spaces Committee monthly meeting topics included dog issues, the new Snow Hill wall, DeFilippo Playground and the trash issue between the playground and the Brinks Garage wall.

It seems no one can confirm just who owns the area between this wall which is full of trash and other debris that is reportedly become a haven for rats.

Reportedly the bids to repair the Snow Hill Street wall have come in too high. The city either needs to come up with additional funds or re-bid the job.

Dog droppings in the parks and playgrounds continues to be a major problem and it’s not getting any better according to the committee.

Parties continue to take place in the playground on a regular basis also according to the committee.

Discussion of possibly having an event in honor of the renowned art sculpture Syrus Edwin Dalin recognizing his 150th Birthday and contributions to the arts.

Dalin created the statue of Paul Revere and his horse which was unveiled on September 22, 1940.

The next NEWRA Committee meeting will be held on Tuesday, June 7 at 7pm in the Nazzaro Community Center.

7:00 – 7:15 p.m.

196 Endicott Street, Esmaeil Mahdavi has filed an appeal for zoning relief to change the legal occupancy of the building from a three-family dwelling to a four-family dwelling, creating a basement unit.

7:15 – 7:30 p.m.

6 Prince Street, Artu Restaurant, Nancy Frattaroli has applied to the Mayor’s Office of Consumer Affairs and Licensing to update and correct the existing non-live entertainment license to reflect the hours of operation (2:00 AM closing hour) and capacity (99 persons) in effect since 2001. There will be no change to the current entertainment, which consists of one television and background music.

7:30 – 7:45 p.m.

351 Hanover Street, Volle Nolle, Torri Crowell has applied to the Licensing Board for the City of Boston for a 7-Day C.V. Malt and Wine License, with a closing hour of 11:00 P.M.

7:45 – 8:00 p.m.

179 Salem Street, Café Lil Italy, Carla Gomes has applied to the Licensing Board for the City of Boston for a 7-Day C.V. Malt and Wine License, with a closing hour of 9:00 p.m.
