North End residents aware of our connection to the Revolutionary War should contact the state senators on Beacon Hill who want to do away with Bunker Hill Day as a Suffolk County holiday.
Let State Senate President Therese Murray know where you stand. Call her office.
The effort by the legislature to do away with Bunker Hill Day is supposed to be a money saver.
Some money saver!
Because of collective bargaining covenants in state employee contracts, even if Bunker Hill Day is done away with as a holiday state employees will still receive the day off with pay as part of their contract.
In that case, why not leave well enough alone?
