Special to the Regional Review
Laughter, conversation, and the aroma of good food filled the ABCD West End Neighborhood Service Center (WE NSC) as older adults gathered to celebrate Father’s Day with an afternoon of delicious food, friendship, and community.
Participants enjoyed a meal prepared from scratch featuring homemade BBQ chicken sandwiches, coleslaw, chips, and dessert. More than just a luncheon, the celebration offered an opportunity to reconnect with friends, create new memories, and honor the fathers and father figures who have made a lasting impact on their families and communities.
The afternoon was made even more special by the attendance of Victor Pelatere, representing Senator Lydia Edwards, who shared greetings and best wishes from the Senator. State Representative Jay Livingstone also stopped by to visit with participants, bringing cookies and chocolate croissants that added an extra sweet touch to the festivities.
The Center was also pleased to welcome Sydney Shadovitz and Ava Portela from the City of Boston Age Strong Commission, whose ongoing partnership continues to strengthen programs and services for older adults throughout the West End and across Boston.
Events like this are at the heart of the WE NSC’s mission, bringing neighbors together, reducing social isolation, and fostering meaningful connections. Smiles filled the room as participants shared stories, enjoyed one another’s company, and reflected on the important role that fathers and father figures have played in their lives.
The WE NSC is grateful to its elected officials, community partners, volunteers, and dedicated staff whose generosity and support helped make this Father’s Day celebration a memorable occasion for everyone who attended.
