Close to 100 residents attended the latest North End/Waterfront Neighborhood Council (NEWNC) monthly public meeting according to President Kevin Fleming.
Many people attended the meeting to hear and pose questions to the city’s apparent new plans for Rodent Control in Boston.
Dien Irish, Chief of Operations and John Ulrich, Assistant Commissioner of Environmental Services, presented the city’s plan and answered questions about what residents considered a major problem in the North End.
They outlined a plan to control rodent population in a safe manner with no affect to people, animals and the environment.
NEWNC by a unanimous vote, supported five new full liquor licenses for local restaurants including Strega, 379 Hanover Street, Antico Forno, 93 Salem Street, Terramia Ristorante, 98 Salem Street, Pappare, 358-364 Hanover Street, Il Panino, 11 Parmenter Street.
“DePasquale Ventures returned to NEWNC with a revised project plan that met all the requests of abutters and received the full vote of the Council,” President Fleming said.
“They came back to the Council a second time, making all the requests of abutters and the Council and received unanimous approval by Council members,” he said.
The revised plans for a zoning change relief to combine the apartment into one at 60-70 Cross Street (formerly the Martignetti Liquor block between Hanover and Salem Streets).
Plans also call for an addition of one floor to the existing building and to change the use to retail, café gelateria, restaurant with culinary arts/education, outdoor veranda seating on upper floor.
Plans by Giacomo’s Ristorante, 355 Hanover Street to expand existing 58 seats on two floors into adjacent space at 351 Hanover Street (formerly Pomodoro’s Restaurant) adding 28 seats was also unanimously supported by NEWNC.
