NSC Holiday Toy Drive

ABCD North End Senior Center (NSC) is participating in a city-wide Winter Holiday Toy Drive.

Place a new unwrapped toy in the donation box at the NSC located at 1 Michelangelo Street to help children in need.

Enchanted Trolley Tour in the North End

The Enchanted Trolley Tour and Tree Lighting will take place at the Paul Revere Mall (Prado) in the North End on Sunday, December 8 at 3 PM.

NSC Thanksgiving Celebration

ABCD North End/West End Thanksgiving celebration will be held on Friday, November 22 at 2:30 PM at 1 Michelangelo Street.

Turkey with all the trimmings and pumpkin pie will be served. For details call 617-523-8125.

RUFF Global Day of Giving

Responsible Urbanites for Fido (RUFF) will hold a Global Day of Giving on Tuesday, December 3 at the North End Dog Park in DeFilippo Playground.

Suggested donation $10. Treats for dogs and humans will be provided.

Senior Movie Matinee

A senior movie matinee will be held at the Nazzaro Community Center for age 55 and up on Wednesday, November 20 at 12:30 PM.

Planes, Trains and Automobiles starring Steve Martin will be shown.

The Center will be providing pizza, movie theater popcorn at the free event.

Thanksgiving Day Dinner

Boston Center for Youth and Families (BCYF) Nazzaro Community Center will hold a Thanksgiving Day dinner for members only on Tuesday, November 22 from 12 PM to 2:30 PM.

Nazzaro Center 10-12 Programs

Boston Center for Youth and Families (BCYF) Nazzaro Community Center has scheduled programs for children 10-12. No membership required.

• Friday, November 15-Ice skating from 4-6 PM. Meet at the Center at

3:30 PM and return to the Center at 6 PM.

• Tuesday, November 19-Science activity from 4-5:40 PM at the North End Library.

• Friday, November 22-Ice-skating from 4-6 PM. Meet at the Center at 3:30 PM and return to the Center at 6 PM.

• Saturday, November 23-Bingo from 7-9 PM. Cost $5.00.

Candlelit Labyrinth Walk

A Candlelight Labyrinth Walk will be held on The Greenway, at the Armenian Heritage Park on Sunday, December 8 from 4:30 to 5:30 PM.

Participants can tie a ribbon with a wish on the Wishing Tree and enjoy hot chocolate and cookies and walk in the Candlelit Labyrinth.

Fireworks Over Boston Harbor

Friends of Christopher Columbus Park (FOCCP) will hold a firework display over Boston Harbor on Tuesday, December 31 at the park. All are welcome to bring in the New Year.

Boston police Public Safety monthly meeting will be held on Thursday, December 5 at 6 PM at the Nazzaro Community Center.

North End/Waterfront Neighborhood Committee (NEWNC) will hold its monthly meeting on Monday, December 9 at 7 PM at the Nazzaro Community Center.

North End/Waterfront Residents’ Association (NEWRA) will hold its monthly meeting on Thursday, December12 at 7pm at the Nazzaro Community Center.

Dog Park Water Shutoff

RUFF advises that the water in the dog park at DeFilippo Playground will be turned off for the season. In addition, a few more park cleanings will take place before the snow falls.

NEMPAC Kicks off Winter Series

North End Music and Performing Arts Center (NEMPAC) Winter Concert Series will be held on Thursday, November 21 with “Through the Lens: Jewish Classics, Celebrated and Unknown” at Bijou de la Vida Private Gallery, 390 Commercial Street. For details call 617-227-2270.

Polishing Up the Brass

The Old North Church will be polishing up its brass figures to light up the holiday lights on Saturday, November 23 starting at 9 a.m.

Volunteers are needed to be a part of the Old North Community event and spend the morning serving and preserving the historic site.

NEMPAC Youth Choir

The North End Music and Performing Arts Center (NEMPAC) is seeking members of their Youth Choir to learn and participate in many of their upcoming performances. For more details call 617-227-2270.

Library Christmas Party

This year’s North End Library Christmas Party will be held on Saturday, December 7 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Entertainment will be provided by NEMPAC.

Computer Assistance

One-On-One computer assistance for adults is being held at the North End Library, by appointment only. Call 617-227-8135 to reserve a spot.

Baby Storytime

Baby Storytime is held each Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the North End Library.

Friday Night Bingo

Boston Center for Youth and Families (BCYF) Nazzaro Center will host Friday Night Bingo for 10-12-year-olds only on Friday, November 22 from 7-9 PM.

No membership is required but participants must complete a permission slip, (available online or at the Center) by Friday, November 15.

Nazzaro Center November News

The following is a listing of dates for the month of November that will impact the BCYF Nazzaro Center and/or the afterschool program.

•        Wednesday, November 27-No after school pickup-cap program begins at 2:30 p.m.

•        Thursday, November 28-Thanksgiving Day-Center is closed.

•        Friday, November 29-After School Program.

Winter Hat and Glove Drive

Friends of Saint Francis House and Greenway Realty winter hat and glove drive underway. Drop off new items only at 169 Salem Street by December 2.

NEAD Family Event

The North End/Waterfront Neighborhood Council (NEWRA) monthly meeting has been changed to Tuesday, November 12 at 7 p.m., due to the Columbus Day holiday, in the Nazzaro Community Center.

Trellis Lighting at Columbus Park

Friends of Columbus Park’s 16th annual Holiday Trellis Lighting will be held on Monday, November 25 at 5 p.m. Refreshments and entertainment.

NSC Arts and Crafts

Every other Thursday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. the North End/West End Neighborhood Service Center (NSC), 1 Michelangelo Street conducts arts and crafts.

Senior Art Classes

Seniors are enjoying art classes at the North End Neighborhood Center. The daytime classes are taught by Silke Evans.

Dog Park Canine Visitors Need to be Registered

Responsible Urbanites for Fido (RUFF) reminds dog owners that all dogs need to be licensed to visit the dog park in DeFilippo Park.

The City of Boston has made this quick and easy by completing the registration online.

Homework Help

The North End Library, 25 Parmenter Street will provide homework help for kindergarten through grade six on Wednesdays from 4-6 p.m.

NSC Free Lunch Programs

Anyone that would like to participate in the North End Neighborhood Service Center’s free lunch program should call 617-523-8125 to reserve a spot for future meals. New clients must sign up to receive membership with ABCD. All luncheons will be announced in the timely fashion.
