NEAD does it again

Each year, the North End Against Drugs (NEAD) holds a terrific Family Fun Day Festival in the neighborhood, that draws hundreds of community residents and others.

NEAD, a very active non-profit organization in the community, has done it again providing an event with something to do for all ages, while opening the doors for of the local agencies to present their wares.

Bath House Scenario Still in limbo

Making the exterior of the Bath House on North Bennet Street a landmark is still in limbo.

Supporters of this historic goal have noted “this takes time” to accomplish through the Boston Landmarks Commission which will make the final decision on the facility that currently houses the North End Nazzaro Community Center which will eventually move to another site.

Once the Center is relocated residents want to keep the North End Senior Program in the facility.

New NEMPAC Board of Director and Asset

Welcome to Leigh Ann Steele of Charlestown who will serve on the North End Music and Performing Arts Center (NEMPAC) Board of Directors.

Steele brings a wealth of experience to the Board with over 20 years of marketing and project management at several firms.

As an ardent supporter of music and performing arts Steele will be a total asset to NEMPAC and its goals.

Mirabella Pool Well Managed

Boston Youth and Family Nazzaro Community Center staff are doing a great job overseeing the activities at the Mirabella Pool.

Led by the Center’s top person, Steven Siciliano, everything at the well-used facility is under control and it appears that pool goers are pleased with the conditions.

Clearly Siciliano and his staff are making the Marabella Pool a well-managed facility that offers a great summer place to be.

NEWRA Communication Amendment Made

A new amendment to the North End/Waterfront Residents’ Association (NEWRA) notification system places the responsibility of the property owner and developer, not the community. That’s the way it should be.

The amended notification policy gives abutters and the local community groups ample time to review plans before the developer presents them officially to the neighborhood for review to take action to support or deny requests.

Tab Really notification is a good plan for the neighborhood by opening up communications to everyone involved, especially the abutters, that could be impacted by the development.

Boston Landmarks Orchestra on Esplanade

This season of free concerts on the Esplanade presented by Boston Landmarks Orchestra making the 90th anniversary of a tradition that began by legendary conductor Arthur Fiedler.

Each summer the concerts embrace a range of music and dance by local musicians, ensembles and performing artist that were enjoyed by families, children and first-time concert goers.

Ninety-years of providing these free concerts deserves recognition for making the Esplanade an entertainment place to be, especially on Wednesdays.
