Public Safety Meeting Report

Boston Police District A-1 officers provided North End / Waterfront residents an update on recent neighborhood crime incidents, summarized below, at the June North End Public Safety Meeting.

Aggravated Assaults (2)

5/3/19 at 1 p.m.: Domestic violence incident between two brothers. One allegedly went through the other’s personal belongings. Physical altercation followed. Victim was hit in the face and arm, and had damage to his vehicle.

5/16/19 at 8:30 a.m. (Hanover St. and Parmenter St.): Victim stated suspect drove by and pointed a firearm at him. Suspect claimed it was the other way around. Suspect’s car was searched, but no firearm was recovered. Suspect was arrested.

Breaking and Entering – Commercial (2)

5/8/19 at 2:49 a.m. (325 Hanover St. – Martini’s News): Police officers responded to a commercial alarm at a Hanover St. business. On arrival, the front door had been smashed with a brick. At this time, police officers were unable to find an owner to respond. The front door was boarded up by a responding company. Later in the morning, the owner reported seven cartons of cigarettes and $45 in cash had been stolen from the store. Detectives to review video footage.

5/8/19 at 4 a.m. (450 Commercial St.): Commercial St. restaurant reports an unknown male suspect was caught on video breaking the front glass door with a brick and entering the establishment. Suspect observed forcing open the safe behind the bar and stealing an undetermined amount of U.S. currency and seven computer tablets used for ordering food.  Suspect fled on foot. Detectives to follow up.

Larcenies (3)

5/14/19 at 12:26 p.m. (218 Hanover St. – CVS): Male suspect ran in and stole 15 packs of Gillette razors. Incident was captured on video.

Between 5/22/19 at 11 p.m. and 5/23/19 at 7 a.m. (20 Thacher St.): Black pair of Nike sneakers (valued at $40) was stolen. Suspect allegedly made entry through an unsecured roof deck door, spent the night on the roof deck and could apparently move from rooftop to rooftop.

Between 5/24/19 at 5 p.m. and 5/28/19 at 11:30 a.m. (427 Commercial St.): Suspect agreed to purchase three Gucci pieces totaling $1,500 from suspect. Victim mailed packages to safe deposit box on Florida, but never received the money.

Robberies (2)

There were two robberies – one outside of Rocco’s on Commercial St. on 5/29 and one at Bob’s Grocery on Endicott St. A suspect has since been arrested.

*Arrests (6)*

5/3/19 at 9 a.m. (9 Stillman St.): Drug investigation at Cutillo Park.

Five people were huddled together. Drug paraphernalia was located nearby. One suspect was found to have outstanding warrants for breaking & entering and motor vehicle incidents, and was arrested. The other suspects were cautioned for trespassing.

5/6/19 at 7:15 p.m. (Hanover St. and Parmenter St.): Officer on patrol conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle. Suspect was found to have an outstanding misdemeanor warrant out of Chelsea, MA.

5/13/19 at 3:30 a.m. (50 Battery St.) – Assault and Battery / Larceny: Suspect appeared to be intoxicated. Fell asleep and, when woken up, refused to leave the premises. Stole a cell phone (which was recovered). Arrested for trespassing, as well.

Aggravated Assault: Aforementioned firearm incident.

Weapon (Firearm) Robbery: Aforementioned robbery at Bob’s Grocery.
