All Roads Lead to City Hall

A major challenge still remains for many North End residents on how to keep senior programs available in the Bath House when the Nazzaro Community Center is moved to another location.

Currently, it appears to be a monumental task to make this happen at the City of Boston Public Facility managed structure.

Residents leading the charge to accomplish this need is to put one foot in front of the other, as all roads lead to City Hall.

Mayor Keeps Commitments to North End

The North End, through the commitments of Boston Mayor Martin Walsh has received more than its fair share of improvements, upgrades and school improvements over the past years.

Mayor Walsh has played key roles in:

•        Stopping Starbucks from opening.

•        Helping to keep the North End Nursing Home open.

•        Limiting hazmat vehicles from using Commercial Street.

•        Renovating Rachel Revere Park.

•        Major renovations to Paul Revere Mall (Prado).

•        North End Library repairs.

•        Some improvements to could Cutillo Park.

•        Renovations to North Square.

•        A major renovation project to the public space along Commercial Street from the skating rink to the pool area.

•        Relocating the BYFC Nazzaro Center possibly to the building between the Mirabella Pool near the Coast Guard Base.

It has become evident that the Mayor has without question shown his dedication to the North End. He should receive credit for his many achievements to help make the North End a better place to live, work and play.

Counselor Edwards Has a Handle on North End Interests

Counselor Lydia Edwards has become a major player in North End issues and concerns.

She has attended just about every neighborhood meeting showing solid support for the community from seniors to public safety and from development to the rehabilitations of parks and playgrounds.

She has also been present at most, if not all off, neighborhood events and activities, sponsoring many of them as well.

Edwards clearly has a handle on the North End’s interests.

Students Receive NEAD Scholarships

For the most past ten-years North End Against Drugs (NEAD) through its Raymond and Michelina Costa Scholarship Program has awarded thousands of dollars and gift certificates to students attending tuition based and public schools.

This year, was the biggest and best scholarship program with $8,000 given out to students.

This is only one of the many programs, activities and events NEAD offers to residents of the community and other organizations.

NEAD is an exceptional part of the neighborhood, always the a when needed.

FOCCP Sunset Cruise a Benefit Event

Friends of Christopher Columbus Park (FOCCP) benefit Sunset Cruise is always a fun-filled event that offers people an opportunity to help the non-profit community organization provide numerous activities and events on the Park each year.

Cruise goers on board the Rendezvous will have a terrific time, possibly make new friends and meet-up with neighbors while raising funds for a solid community organization that makes the park a beautiful place to be and take part in the programs provided by FOCCP.

NEAA Majors Baseball Season and Overwhelming Success

Once again, the North End Athletic Association (NEAA) put together an outstanding Majors (Little League) baseball program for the youth of the North End.

The league was totally competitive from start to finish. Both players, coaches, families and friends enjoyed a terrific season of baseball at Langone Field.

The organization also coordinated a terrific All-Star Game where players were able to present their talents in a great baseball scenario.

NEAA Baseball Commissioner Ralph Martignetti and Baseball Coordinator John Romano hit a grand slam organizing what turned out to be a hotly contested 2019 baseball season.
