June will be a very active month at the North End Library, 25 Parmenter Street.
The library will present many activities for all ages including Wednesday and Friday films, computer assistance, MahJongg Club, lectures, workshops, games, book club discussions, and a senior connect health program and numerous children events.
All residents are welcome to participate in the programs and activities offered at the library this June.

MahJongg Club – Thursdays – 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 pm
Come and play the American-style variant of this tile-based game that originated in China and requires skill, strategy, and calculation. Beginners are welcome. No sign up is required.
Adult Book Discussion Club Tuesday June 18 – 4:45 – 5:45 p.m.
June’s book is Karen Russell’s debut novel, Swamplandia! (2011), featuring twelve-year-old Ava who ventures into the mysterious “underworldâ€of a Florida swamp in order to save her family’s dynasty of alligator wrestling. Against a backdrop of hauntingly fecund plant life animated by ancient lizards and lawless hungers, Swamplandia! depicts a family’s struggle to stay afloat in a world that is inexorably sinking. Books are available for check-out at the library’s front desk.
Seniors Connect – Thursday June 20 – 10:30 am – noon
June’s meeting features a representative from the City of Boston’s Elderly Commission to discuss diet and nutrition for seniors. This program is in cooperation with the Vilna Shul. Light refreshments will be served.
CHILDREN’S EVENTS
Pineapple Project – Tuesday June 18 at 10:30 – 11:15 am
In honor of Pride Month the Pineapple Project presents an original play about gender, creativity, and each child’s freedom to be who they are. For children ages 3-8.
Drag Queen Story Hour – Saturday June 29 – 11:00 -11:45 am
Drag Queen Story Hour is a program for children ages 3 – 8 that raises awareness of gender diversity, promotes self-acceptance, and builds empathy through an enjoyable literary experience. This program will be led by local Boston drag queens who will sing songs, read picture books, and engage in a craft activity.
