New Director

Steven Siciliano has been named the new Nazzaro Community Center Director.

RUFF Giving Month

RUFF has coordinated Giving Month to support Boston Animal Control (BAC) during the month of November 2018.

Items are being collected at PolkaDogBakery, 57 Salem Street. For a list of acceptable items visit RUFF North End Dog Group.

Public Safety Meeting

The North End Public Safety monthly meeting will be held on Thursday, Dec. 6, at the Nazzaro Community Center at 6 p.m.

NEWNC Monthly Meeting

North End/Waterfront Neighborhood Council (NEWNC) will hold its monthly meeting on Monday, December 10, at 7 p.m. at the Nazzaro Community Center.

NEWRA Monthly Meeting

North End/Waterfront Residents’ Association (NEWRA) will hold its monthly meeting on Thursday, Dec. 13, at 7 p.m. at the Nazzaro Community Center.

NSC Provides Hot Meals

Monday and Friday meals are back at the North End Neighborhood Service Center (NSC), 1 Michelangelo Street.

Hot meals will be served at 12:30 p.m., meals are made from scratch and generally include three courses; a starter, entrée, and dessert. Must have a free ABCD membership.

North Street Grille Neighborhood Night to Benefit Community

North Street Grille, 229 North Street will host “Neighborhood Night” on the first Thursday of each month from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m..

The owners will donate 30% of the proceeds to neighborhood organizations.

Nov. 1, event was for ABCD’s turkey drive.

Dec. 6, donations will go to ABCD for the purchase of supermarket gift cards for the holiday season.

Jan. 3, donations will go to NEAD for the annual scholarship fund.

Feb. 7, donations will go to NEAD for its Annual Drug Awareness Day.

Easton Side          Closed on Bridge

The western side (Charles River) of the North Washington Street Bridge has been close to pedestrians. The eastern side will remain open. MassDOT will continue to update project happenings on a regular basis.

N.E. Basketball Bonanza

North End Against Drugs (NEAD) and Representative Aaron Michlewitz will present the third annual North End Basketball Bonanza on Friday, November 16, from 6-10 p.m. at the Nazzaro Community Center. For details email [email protected].

RUFF Dog Show

RUFF will present the fourth annual Dog Show at the North End Dog Park located in the Gassy on Saturday, October 20, rain date Sunday, October 21. Registration starts at 10 a.m., event begins at 11 a.m. For details email [email protected].

Public Safety Meeting

The next Boston Police North End Public Safety meeting will be held on Thursday, Nov. 1, at 6 p.m. at the Nazzaro Community Center.

Old North Guest Speaker

John Shattuck, former US Assistant Secretary of State for Democracy, Human Rights and Labor will be the guest speaker at the Old North Speaker series on Thursday, Dec. 6, from 6-8 p.m.

NEMPAC Offers Two Children’s Programs

North End Music and Performing Arts Center (NEMPAC) is offering two programs, First Steps and Family Music Makers, for children ages six months to three years of age.

The next North End/Waterfront Residents’ Association (NEWRA) monthly meeting will be held on Thursday, November 8, at 7 p.m. at the Nazzaro Community.

Trellis Lighting

Friends of Christopher Columbus Park (FOCCP) will conduct its yearly Trellis Lighting on Monday, November 19, at dusk.

Fireworks Display

Friends of Christopher Columbus Park (FOCCP) will bring in the new year (2019) with a firework display on Tuesday, December 31, with two barges of firework at midnight on the Boston Harbor.

Old North Tours

The old North Church will present Cryptic Stories, a guided tour of the church crypt and Copps Hill Burial Ground on Tuesday, October 23, and Thursday, October 25, from 6-7 p.m.

North End  Softball Champs

Connor Café owner Richie Longo was all smiles when his team captured the North End Softball League Championship for the 18th time in 23 years.

Organ Concert at Old North

Dr. Libor Dudas will perform an organ Concert on Sunday, October 28, at 6 p.m., in celebration of his twenty years as Organist and Music Director at the Old North Church, 193 Salem Street, Boston.

The program will feature the world premiere of Old North (the imploring organ), And Original Piece Composed and Libor’s honor by John Morrison along with works by Bach, Bennett, and Boellman.

Dr. Dudas will be playing Old North’s historic organ, built in 1759 by Thomas Johnson. For details call 617-523-6676.

Daffodil Planting in October

“Boston Blooms with Daffodils” a beautification initiative will distribute 20,000 daffodil bulbs this fall to volunteers for planting on public ways citywide.

Halloween Party

This year’s North End Halloween Party, hosted by the Nazzaro Community Center and North End Music and Performing Arts Center (NEMPAC), will be held at the Center’s outdoor courtyard on Wednesday, Oct. 31, from 3-7 p.m.

The Friends of Christopher Columbus Park have some fantastic events scheduled for 2018. Please mark your calendar and plan to join your friends and neighbors in the Park for fun!
