CARNIVAL OF DOGS A HOWLING SUCCESS
This year’s TD Bank Carnival of Dogs, held in the North End side of The Greenway, was a howling success.
Throughout the morning and afternoon, the park was filled with pets and their owners with a wide range of vendors offering canine goodies and products.
The festival fetched hundreds of pooches, owners and other visitors that totally enjoyed the fun filled activities.

NEAA SOCCER PROGRAM GETS BIGGER AND BETTER
It appears that the 2018 North End Athletic Association (NEAA) Soccer Program, based on the number of players that signed up to participate, will be a banner year.
The soccer program kicked off the season at Puopolo Park with a host of players, family members, NEAA officials and the many volunteers that make the program possible for local kids ages four and up.
Participants are taught how the game is played and the rules before they start to play in games.
The soccer program seems to get bigger and better each season under the umbrella of the NEAA.

NO MAJOR PROBLEMS AT FEASTS
There were no major problems during the numerous religious feasts held in the North End this season.
Working together, the Societies, Boston Police and several city departments, put together a plan that entailed no negative activities that could possibly have occurred.
These festivals are major traditions in the North End and there is no need for negative activity to dampen the special events that attract thousands of people each year.
That’s what a good plan does, organizes a non-problematic event for everyone to participate and enjoy.

MAYOR’S YOUTH COUNCIL AND A+
Having high school age youth serving on Mayor Martin J. Walsh’s 2019 Youth Council, that are committed to improving their communities and empowering other people in the City, is a plus for obtaining the feelings of how the city should perform in the eyes of young people that are the future of the city.
Advising the Mayor and members of his Administration on policy and programming, members of the Council have the opportunity to make a difference in their community and the city.
Obtaining youth input to help make the city a better place to live, work and play is an A+.

LOW INCOME SENIOR HOUSING PLANNED FOR KNIGHTS BUILDING
The North End Knights of Columbus, Lodge 1513 has moved forward with the development of the property located at 41 North Margin Street.
The local organization developer’s plan to construct much-needed low income senior citizens housing units with some parking spaces within the property.
In addition, the developer will renovate the existing Knights headquarters within the structure.
Providing more affordable housing for seniors in the North End deserves merit in the full support of the neighborhood.
