RUFF Honored at North End National Night Out

It was an especially hot and steamy day when Responsible Urbanites For Fido (RUFF) received an award by the

Boston Police District A1 presented its 2018 Community Service Award to Responsible Urbanites For Fido (RUFF) at the recent National Night out event held in the North End (Gassy). District A-1 Boston Police Department’s Community Service Award for creating the North End Dog Park in DeFilippo Park and the many other contributions to the neighborhood.

District Commander Captain William Fong presented the award to the neighborhood organization at the recent North End Against Drugs (NEAD) National Night Out event that attracted hundreds of participants, that included Mayor Martin Walsh, Commissioner William Gross, Senator Joe Boncore, Councilor Lydia Edwards and other elected officials and dignitaries.

Ninety sponsors help NEAD make the annual event possible along with the Nazzaro Community Center and A Taste of the North End.

Many local organizations participated in the popular event including NEMPAC, North End Health Center, RUFF, NEAD and others.

Music was provided by DJ Justin Amoroso, free pizza, balloon making, arts and crafts, and an animal petting zoo.

NEAD will conduct its North End Family Pride Day at Langone Park on Saturday, September 15.
