RUFF Newsletter

February is a short month, but the winter season feels long. We hope all our members are enjoying the time in the new RUFF North End Dog park. For folks that may not know about RUFF, we ask that you please share the RUFF group information: [email protected], on Instagram (ruffnorthend) and Facebook (RUFF North End Dog Group).

With a heavy heart – we say good bye to two time “Golden Oldie” winner and beloved North End pup – Freeway. Freeway lived and was loved for 18 amazing years, and was a fixture in the North End. RUFF sends condolences and love to Freeway’s human companion, Marie Simboli. In Loving Memory

This month we have some exciting news to share. RUFF has a new Chairperson on the Board. We welcome Ashley Seybold along with her sweet little lady Beignet to the RUFF team. Ashley has been a supportive and enthusiastic member of RUFF over the years. She was a tremendous help during our pilot park phase and continued to be a positive force while we completed the final park. The RUFF team is grateful and excited to work with Ashley and we can’t wait for all our members to meet her in the coming months

North End Dog Park: February:  The park is much loved by all the users. RUFF has seen a jump in usership since the park construction has been completed. We are also really pleased to report that the park is being used very responsibly – Folks are cleaning up. Keep up the good work in the park.

We had a small accident with the misting hydrant in the lower level (big area) of the park. The misting hydrant has been removed and a new one is on the way. Until then please use caution in the area where it was. We have a cone covering the water connection but want folks to be aware.

Message board is up. We will be posting this newsletter and other information in the board. If you have something you would like to post, please reach out.

Auto Locks/Gates: Please always close the gate behind you. This is the only way to ensure the park gets locked at night. Help keep our park safe. Please note that the park hours are 6:30am-9pm. The gates will be locked outside of those times. If you encounter any issues in the park, please email: [email protected].

**Dog Walkers** – No more than three dogs to a walker. If you have any issues or see walkers not following this rule please contact RUFF or the City of Boston.

February:

RUFF won’t be hosting any events in the park this month. There are some events happening in the neighborhood that we would like to share with the membership:

February 14 – Polka Dog Kissing Booth, 57 Salem Street – Everybody’s favorite local dog shop, PolkaDog, is hosting an event to celebrate the four legged loves of our lives. Stop by for a treat, a smooch and a photo. Don’t forget to tag us – @ruffnorthend

If you have interests in planning events, helping with the parks, educating members and neighbors or just would like to help out more with RUFF please come to our meeting. If you can’t make the meeting but are interested please email – [email protected] – RUFF is 100% run with volunteer love, help keep RUFF thriving with joining our team.
