Ted Tomasone honored again

To say Robert “Ted” Tomasone has made a substantial difference in the North End community would be a total understatement.

As a resident and eventually a former North Ender, Ted has accomplished many endeavors that made a noticeable difference in the neighborhood through his tireless efforts and dedication to make the community a place of numerous activities for the enjoyment of the community as a whole.

He has continuously spearheaded numerous quality events and has supported many neighborhood endeavors for the betterment of the area.

As President of the North End Athletic Association (NEAA) Ted always made sure that the non-profit organization’s programs were always intact and ongoing for all ages, especially the youth.

Over the years Tomasone has received several awards for his commitment to the neighborhood.

He created the North End Christmas Luncheon, the North End Christmas Parade and a Golf Tournament, which has been ongoing for years, all traditions in the neighborhood.

Reportedly, Ted has raised over $$2 million over the years for all kinds of programs, sports activities, educational initiatives and civic involvement.

The North End is blessed to have Tomasone on their team.

A well-deserved honor

Boston Police District A1 Commanding Officer Captain William Fong was recently presented a Community Achievement Award by Boston City Counselor Sal LaMattina at a NEWRA public meeting.

Captain Fong has championed the fight against crime in the North End/Waterfront, which often has the lowest Part One crime in any neighborhood in Boston.

His Public Safety meetings are always informative. His dedication to prevent crime is outstanding. His ability to work with residents to resolve problems has been handled in a successful manner.

Captain Fong is a credit to the Boston Police Departments and a total asset to our neighborhood.

Outstanding Friends of the North End Reunion

Friends of the North End held another outstanding reunion, their 45th, with about 170 people attending the special and extremely popular gathering of lifelong friends who ate, drank and reminisced about the good old days.

This is always a great event to attend, have a good time and tell terrific war stories.

What happens at the reunion stays at the reunion.

Number 46 is already being planned.

North End Bocce Tournament: A community tradition

What seems to be the biggest and best part of the Taste of the North End sponsored community events that benefit numerous local agencies and organizations is the North End Bocce Tournament.

The annual event, coordinated by Donato Frattaroli, always draws about 200-300 hundred players and spectators to Langone Park on Commercial Street. This year was no exception.

Along with many volunteers and sponsors, Donato put together terrific neighborhood events that have apparently become a tradition that everyone enjoys.

Boston Mayor Martin J. Walsh should be reelected-period

Boston Mayor Martin J. Walsh has excelled in addressing North End and Waterfront issues, needs and endeavors with positive results.

Being the Mayor of Boston has always been a challenge. Walsh has tackled everything possible related to the North End/Waterfront community, producing time and time again.

The Mayor has always taken the right steps to assist the neighborhood and he will continue to do so when he is reelected to another four-year term.

In addition, Mayor Walsh has worked closely with the community’s elected officials to deal with problems and make things happen in a good way.

            Come Election Day residents should not forget the efforts made on behalf of the community by the Mayor and send him back to the city’s top post.
