Christopher Columbus Park Celebrates Fall Annual Festival and Charity Drive

Friends of Christopher Columbus Park will once again host their annual Fall Festival on Columbus Day. This free neighborhood event, which draws people of all ages from across the city and surrounding suburbs each year, will be held Monday, October 9 from 12-4 p.m.

The festival will kick off with a parade around the Park starting promptly at noon, led by Christopher Columbus on stilts – a sight not to be missed! All attendees are invited to join in the parade. Following the parade, the day will be filled with a wide variety of entertainment including face painting, pumpkin painting and arts and crafts. Performers include Peter O’Malley the Magician, Jim the Bubble Guy, Benjamin the Juggler and more.

For the first time, a food drive will be included as part of the festival. Each attendee is invited to bring a food donation, which will be given to the Pine Street Inn. Items especially in need include:

  • Whole grain, low-sugar cereal or instant oatmeal packets
  • – more –
  • Whole wheat spaghetti
  • Tomato sauce and canned diced tomatoes
  • Brown rice

“Friends of Christopher Columbus Park loves hosting this Fall Festival for our community each year,” Ann Babbitt, FOCCP vice president and event chair said. “We’re happy to be incorporating a food drive into this year’s event and are hopeful each attendee will bring a little something to donate. I can’t think of a better place to spend Columbus Day than at Columbus Park and on the Waterfront.”

The event is free to all thanks to the generous support of NorthEndBoston.com, Sanibel Electrical Corp., CL Waterfront Properties, LLC, Joe’s American Bar & Grill, Marriott Long Wharf and Tia’s Restaurant.
