Rash of Arrests Will be Discussed At North End Public Safety Meeting

By Phil Orlandella

District A1 Commanding Officer Captain William Fong had the foresight to increase police presence during the four days of the Fisherman’s Feast in the North End which became hectic with numerous arrests being made within the neighborhood.

Most arrests involve public drinking and public nuisance situations by young and older teenagers and adults over twenty.

Incidents occurred in the feast, on the adjacent streets, and spiraled all the way to Margaret Street and nearby DeFilippo Playground. No major injuries were reported.

More statistics and information will be presented by Captain Fong and his staff at the next North End/Boston Police Public Safety meeting which will be held on Thursday, September 7 at 6 PM in the Nazzaro Community Center, 30 North Bennet Street.

NEWRA Public Safety Chairman David Marx will conduct the public meeting. All residents and the business community are invited to attend, ask questions and offer opinions and suggestions.
