Old North Outreach Mission Underway

By Phil Orlandella

The Old North Church’s third-quarter outreach mission “Room to Grow” is underway accepting items suitable for children under the age of three in excellent condition only.

The church is seeking clothing, to size 5T, shoes to size 13, toys, books, baby carriers, slings, baby monitors, baby proofing items, baby room accessories, bathtubs, bibs, blankets, booster chairs, bouncy seats, child reading books, children’s CDs, crib sheets, diaper bags, exersaucers, feeding supplies, photo albums, pay mats, potties, strollers, slings, towels and wash cloths.

New only items excepted are: baby care items, baby lotion, baby shampoo, bottles, cups, diaper cream, nipples, pacifiers, teethers, toothbrushes and utensils.

For reasons of safety the following items will not be accepted: baby furniture, baby food, that seats, car seats, crib bumpers, cribs, diaper pails, diapers, formula, maternity wear, pregnancy books, sleep positioners, stuffed animals and walkers.

Items can be dropped off in the Donation Pew at the back of the church, seven days a week.

Since the church is busiest with visitors from around 11 AM through 5 PM, suggested drop off time is earlier than 11 AM and later than 5 PM.

In addition to collecting items, the church is seeking volunteers to assist with sorting and stocking incoming gifts at Room to Grow located downtown, near the Arlington T Station.

Available dates are Saturday, September 9 and Saturday, September 30 from 12 noon to 2 PM.
