Peace Corps: Stories from the Field – Thursday, July 13, 6:00 pm

A Recruiting session to learn about the challenging, fulfilling and inspirational moments of Peace Corps service directly from a volunteer currently in the field. African American Heritage in Massachusetts – Thursday, July 20, 6:30 pm

Author Rosalyn Elder discusses the legacy of our state’s African Americans. This fascinating talk will celebrate the history and the many contributions of people of color throughout Massachusetts’ history.

Recruiting Sessions:  TSA Boston Is Hiring–  Thursdays August, 3rd and August 10th 12:00-3:00 pm

Ongoing Programs

Spanish/English Language Exchange/Intercambio de Idiomas en Inglés y Español – Mondays 3-5 p.m.

English speakers can practice Spanish and Spanish speakers can practice English in this fun, informal conversation class.

English as a Second Language (ESL)Conversation Group — Every Tuesday from 1:00 pm -2:30 pm. Come and practice English language skills with other newcomers and a facilitator.

Yoga for Seniors — Every Tuesday 2:45-3:30pm  Classes are led by Tatiana Nekrasova, a certified yoga instructor.

After-Work Tai Chi Group – Every Thursday 5:00-6:00 pm. A low impact energy exercise with yang-style tai chi instructor Arthur Soo-Hoo.

Guided Imagery Meditation with Polly Fletcher – Every Friday 12:15-1:00 pm. Join Polly Fletcher, Get Your Vibe On Coach and Occupational Therapist, for Guided Visualization Meditation. Strengthen Mental Focus and transform limiting thoughts to reduce stress and improve overall health.

Color Your World: Coloring for Adults — Fridays 2-4pm. A relaxing time of coloring. Library will supply coloring pages, colored pencils, markers, and crayons. Bring your own supplies if you prefer. Feel free to drop-in between these hours

Introduction to Laptops, iPads, E-Readers – By appointment only.  Have a new gadget or want to learn more about the one you have?  The library offers one-on-one sessions to help.  To set up an appointment you can email Helen Bender at  hbender@bpl.org or call the Branch at 617-523-3957.

Preschool Story Hour – Every Tuesday 10:30-11:30 a.m. Children ages 3 to 5 and their caregivers, with the West End Children’s Librarian for weekly stories, songs, rhymes, and movement. This is a high-energy story time, and families, daycares, and school groups are all welcome to drop in.

Toddler Time – Every Wednesday 10:30-11:30 a.m. Children ages 18 months to 3 years and their caregivers, with the West End Children’s Librarian for developmentally appropriate stories, rhymes, movement, and songs. Drop-in for families. Groups should contact the library ahead of time.
