North End Public Safety Metting

Boston Police District A-1 provided an update on recent neighborhood crime incidents, summarized below, at the July 2017 North End Public Safety Meeting.

Aggravated Assaults (2)

-6/3 @ Stillman St. @ 12.53pm: Male and female victims reported that they got into an argument with the male operator of a gold VW Passat on Salem St. that led onto Stillman Street.  The victims said the vehicle had an Uber sticker on the window.  They further stated the suspect pulled out what appeared to be a black Glock handgun and drove away.  Officers responded and checked the area, but to no avail.

-7/5 @ 190 Commercial St. @ 5.52pm: Police officers responded to a report of an Assault and Battery.  Victim and suspect were sitting on a bench in front of the building when an argument ensued.  At this time the suspect threw the victim to the ground and kicked the victim before fleeing back into the Commercial St. building.

Auto Theft (4)

-6/18 @ 300 Commercial St. @ 8.00pm: 2016 Honda scooter was parked overnight and stolen.

-6/19 b/w 8.30pm & 7.30am: A 2015 Honda scooter was parked overnight and was stolen.

-6/29 @ Parmenter St. @ 3.30am: Witness reported 2 unknown Hispanic males on a green scooter came up Parmenter St the wrong way.  At this time one of the suspects got off the scooter and went over and sat on a black Shanghai Meitian scooter parked on Parmenter St., then broke the fork lock and duck walked the scooter down the street. There is video footage of the incident.  Detectives are investigating.

-7/1 @ Prince St. b/w 1.30pm & 2.00pm: A 2015 Yamaha scooter was parked and stolen.

Larcenies (3)

-Tileston St.: A UPS package was stolen after it was delivered.

-6/21 @ Jackson Ave. b/w 4.00am & 6.00am: A smart door video caught a person sitting around, whom eventually broke off the camera and stole it.

-6/22 @ 19 Sheafe St.: A FedEx package from Home Depot was stolen after it was delivered.

Arrests (3)

-6/10 @ 9.53pm: Police officers responded to a hit and run car incident that caused property damage at North St. and Richmond St.

Suspect was operating a black Ford pickup truck that went through the intersection without stopping.  It then struck vehicles parked on Richmond St. At this time, the male suspect backed his truck up and attempted to flee in the vehicle across Hanover St. and onto Parmenter St., where he was stopped and tackled by bystanders as he fled on foot. He was then detained by an off-duty Cambridge police officer.

A total of at least 5 vehicles were hit.  Suspect was charged with Operating Under the Influence (alcohol), Disturbing the Peace, Operating Recklessly and Dangerously and leaving the scene of an accident.

-6/21 @ 361 Hanover St. @ 8.25pm: Man that has been observed pushing a wheelchair around the neighborhood with a teddy bear on same was once again observed acting irrationally, making threats, etc.  He was arrested for disturbing the peace.

-Hull St.: Domestic violence incident, resulting in an arrest for Violating a Restraining Order.
