Bruins Alumni raise funds for NEAA

The North End Athletic Association (NEAA), along with Boston Children’s Hospital were the beneficiaries of a hockey game between the Boston Bruins Alumni and the Boston Strong All Stars Team game held at Steriti Skating Rink in the North End.

It was a great event that helped the NEAA raise funds for the many programs and events they coordinate in the community including the baseball programs throughout the spring and summer.

NEWRA officers By-Law changes in order

One of the many by-law changes being considered by the North End/Waterfront Residents’ Association (NEWRA) is term limits for officers which is currently two years.

Reportedly, the change will not include the Association’s President which will remain at two-years with other officer’s terms extended.

This is a good idea for NEWRA. It would keep more offices in the fold while not giving the appearance of the president becoming a power source on a volunteer neighborhood group.

Paul Revere Mall improvements in the making

Many residents met in the church with representatives of the Old North Church and the Boston Parks and Recreation Department to discuss and make suggestions for the city’s plans to improve the Paul Revere Mall (Prado).

Existing conditions at the park located on the Freedom Trail are in dire need of repairs, especially with drainage, brick work and a general major cleanup.

The public meeting went well and many concerns and potential project ideas were placed on the table for potential action by the city.

Other public meetings will be held on a regular basis.

The Greenway sets visitors’ record

Another record for the number of visitors has been established by the Greenway Conservancy in 2016 with more than 1.4 million people in various parks. (Not counting the millions of others that enjoyed the park in various other ways)

This is a great example of how the Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Park has provided the best possible open space for visitors, the North End/Waterfront and other neighborhoods.

Celebrating its eighth anniversary the Greenway Conservancy has created a special place for the public and many activities and events that are enjoyed by thousands throughout the years.

It’s certainly much better than the old Green Monster, the Central Artery.
