N.E.A.D. Bingo A Huge Success

North End Against Drugs, Inc held its’ annual Adult Bingo

Fundraiser on Sunday January 29th at the Nazzaro Center. Close to 60 people attended, the largest crowd in several years.

The event is held each year on the Sunday before the Superbowl when there is no NFL football playoffs to help maximize turnout.

“We had a fun filled afternoon”, stated NEAD President John Romano, “We are very thankful for all the support from the players and the businesses who supported us”. There were no cash prizes for the 20 games played including the coverall. Fabulous prizes were awarded to the winners of each game, which included gift certificates, baskets and Celtics tickets.

The following businesses and individuals donated to help make this event a huge success: Representative Aaron Michlewitz, Senator Joseph Boncore, Councilor Sal LaMattina, North End Health Center, North End Athletic Association, Taranta, Regina’s Pizza, Prezza, Lucia, Ducali, Il Molo, Locale, Al Dente, The Living Room, Lucca, Cirace’s. Vito’s, Four Winds, Carmelina’s, Massimino’s, Orzo (Andover), Benevento’s, Good Life, Billy Tse, Hairport, Cafe Paradiso and Amici’s. NEAD Board members helped collect the prizes and assisted with organizing the Bingo.

The North End Seniors let NEAD use their bingo machine and supplies.The Nazzaro Center hosted the fundraiser and provided coffee and popcorn and NEAD Board Member Karen D’Amico put all the bingo prize packages together.

N.E.A.D. Goes to the Museum of Science

On Friday evening, February 10th, North End Against Drugs took just over 40 family members to the Museum of Science.  “It was a fun and educational night for all of us” exclaimed NEAD President John Romano. “It was awesome.”

Maria Cabrera the Museum’s Supervisor of Community Relations provided NEAD a scholarship for admittance to the Exhibit Halls and the Omni Theater showing of Journey to Space.

North End Against Drugs and the Museum have been partnering together for over 15 years and Maria’s program has supported NEAD with visits to the Museum and has attended North End Family Pride Day providing traveling exhibits there for all of the North End families to enjoy.

“North End Against Drugs is extremely grateful to Maria and the Museum for our ongoing partnership, it was a great night for all who attended” said NEAD President John Romano.

North End Against Drugs is committed to promoting a drug free environment in our neighborhood by providing fun, educational, information, cultural and recreational programs at an affordable price to North End residents and neighbors.
