NEMPAC Executive Director Receives Boston SPARK Award

By Phil Orlandella

North End Music and Performing Arts Center (NEMPAC) Executive Director Sherri Snow was one of three finalists for the City of Boston SPARK Award in the category of Community Building and Neighborhood Improvement, which is presented and honors millennials for their contribution to the city.

Snow is the SPARK that makes NEMPAC an outstanding and valuable neighborhood non-profit organization it is, won the award.

Her leadership role, unquestionable talent and her neighborhood interactions made her a viable finalist and eventual winner of the award.

Snow through her many activities, events and programming is well recognized throughout the neighborhood and now throughout the city. Earlier this year, Snow was presented a music award by the Saint Joseph Society.

“I’m very humble to have been a finalist and eventually being presented this year’s Mayor Walsh and the City of Boston SPARK Award in the Community Building and Neighborhood Improvement Category,” Snow said.

The accomplished opera singer was heavily supported by the NEMPAC Board of Directors, especially its chairperson Dianna Royle.

“The 2016 SPARK Impact Awards are setting the standard for Boston’s next-generation of civic leadership,” Mayor Martin J. Walsh said in a press release.

“They are promoting arts and culture, expanding economic opportunity for all, elevating the voices of Boston’s immigrant communities, fighting the addiction epidemic, helping homeless veterans become self-sufficient and working tirelessly to make Boston a healthy thriving city,” he said about the 15 finalists in several categories.

He added, “At a young age, they have already made an incredible impact, and I am proud to recognize their passion and dedication to improving Boston’s future.”
