NEWRA trashes term by-law change

A moved to change the North End/Waterfront Residents Association (NEWRA) term limits for officers from two to four years was defeated by the non-profit community organization, and it should have been denied.

Since its inception, NEWRA has always insisted that terms for officers remained at two years. The reasoning was not to give the community the impression that the organization was controlled by the same people. A solid policy that truly makes NEWRA the neighborhood organization it has become for many years.

Cooler heads prevail this time around.

Mary McGee new NEWRA President

Long-time North End/Waterfront Residents’ Association member Mary McGee has been elected to a two-year term as President of the community organization.

McGee has always been a solid and outspoken member of NEWRA.

She has the experience and knowledge of the neighborhood issues, especially those that affect the quality of life that really makes a difference in the community in general.

Being in a leadership role of a major neighborhood organization is not an easy task to say the least. However, Mary has what it takes to get the job accomplished.

Ford Cavalleri an outstanding NEWRA President

For the past two-years Ford Cavallari has done an outstanding job as President of the North End/Waterfront Residents’ Association (NEWRA).

His leadership has made NEWRA a major force in the community, resulting in a better place to live, work and play.

Ford’s dedication and willingness to provide NEWRA members with updated and important information related to the best interest of the community has been impressive.

An extremely intelligent man, Ford has made a huge difference in the betterment of the community and he should be recognized and commended for his positive and successful efforts.

Nazzaro Center the busiest place in town

Under the direction of Carl Ameno and his very capable staff, the Nazzaro Community Center’s doors offer a wide range of activities for children, teens, adults and seniors.

It’s without question this is the busiest place in the North End with something to do for everyone under safe conditions.

Nazzaro Center staff work hard to provide many programs for the neighborhood, they are truly dedicated to providing the best programs, events and activities as possible.

They should be recognized and commended for the outstanding job they do each year at the Center.
