FOCCP to Celebrate 15th Anniversary in the Park

By Phil Orlandella

Friends of Christopher Columbus Park (FOCCP), an all-volunteer non-profit organization founded in July 2001 by a small group of North End/Waterfront residents and members of the business community, are preparing to celebrate their 15th anniversary with a special birthday party in the park.

Since its inception, FOCCP has encouraged community involvement to promote, improve and maintain the park.

FOCCP has also coordinated many cleanup efforts and provided numerous events and activities in the park for neighborhood participation.

The special celebration will feature a Park Trellis cake created by Modern Pastry, Rose Garden cupcakes from Lulu’s Sweet Shoppe, a unique balloon sculpture by WOW! Balloons.com and a concert by the renowned U.S. Air Force Heritage of America Band’s Rhythm in Blue Jazz Ensemble. A free band CD will be given to all guests.

The event will be held on the park lawn on Tuesday, August 23 from 6-9pm.
