Greenway Activities:Past,Present and Future

This summer The Greenway Conservancy has held many different activities and events for North End/Waterfront residents and visitors to enjoy.

The many faces of The Greenway features Al Weiwel’s Circle of Animals/Zodiac Heads that will be at the Rings Fountain through October 21.

Visitors are constantly seen taking a photo with the animal of their birth.

The Greenway has been honored with a place on the 2016 Top-Rated List by Great Non-Profits. This is the fourth year in a row and The Greenway is striving for fifth consecutive honor.

Brush Hour volunteer projects use the remaining sunshine after work to help complete important gardening projects in the park. The group finished up the Dewey Square Block Party capping an evening spent on The Greenway.

The African Festival of Boston returned to The Greenway featuring art and culture. This was the six year the festival promoted the multicultural exchange of culture and heritage.

Dancers came out to watch performances and tried their hand during the beginning of the first and second Milonga Tango in the park.

“Pokémon Go” has made its way to The Greenway captivating all kinds of interest. Participants can catch a Charmander in the North End, CA Sparrow by the food trucks and more. There are well over 15 Poke stops along The Greenway.

HUBweek, a festival celebrating the future and the present will run from September 25 to October 1. HUBweek events displayed creativity and innovation while featuring advancements in science in the arts that have tremendous impacts on Boston and beyond.

Local artists Jeff Bridges who sculpture the animals on The Greenway Carousel visited the park to answer design and creation process as part of Green Play. Participants sculpted their own clay animals.

Outdoor parties can be held at The Greenway Carousel including summer birthday parties packages that are popular with kids of all ages.

The North End Park welcomed the BockBike an extension of ReadBoston’s Story mobile program that looks to share the love of books with children and others.

The Greenway and Design Using Boston held a Nature Play program. Playscapes using raw material found along the park were made. Local artists Mitch Ryerson taught the value of teamwork, creativity and natural play.
