NEAA seeks golf sponsors for annual fundraiser

The North End Athletic Association (NEAA) will hold its annual benefit golf tournament at the Andover Country Club on Canterbury Road on Monday, August 8 with a shotgun start of 7am.

This is the Association’s major fundraiser that helps provide recreational events, field trips, educational and civic activities for the youth of the community.

The NEAA is a non-profit, all volunteer neighborhood group that has been providing programs for the neighborhood for over 50 years.

Representative Michlewitz includes North End organizations funding in State Budget

Spearheaded by State Representative Aaron Michlewitz the House included two community agencies in the state’s $39.5 billion budget.

Local initiatives prioritized by Representative Michlewitz were the North End/Waterfront Health Center and ABCD North End/West End Neighborhood Service Center.

The Center will receive $125,000 to help to combat substance abuse while ABCD will pick up $50,000 to help with programs for area residents.

Through the Representative’s efforts local organizations can provide quality services to the community.

Feast goers need to respect the neighborhood

It’s that time of the year for the many religious feast that will take place in the North End at different venues.

The traditional weekend events attract thousands of visitors to the neighborhood and are major family activities.

While the Societies, working with city agencies and Boston Police usually have their act together, creating and promoting public safety, cleaning up the areas and making sure the feasts are close by 11pm, everyone still needs to chip in to make a difference.

Feast goers should not be drinking publicly, littering, using the community as a toilet, inciting fights and should respect the neighborhood, especially once the feasts have closed down for the evening.

Councilor LaMattina supported North Square budget projects

North Square, the site of Paul Revere’s House and Rachel Revere Park, will soon receive a much-needed facelift by the City of Boston Parks Department and Public Facilities Department.

Both projects are included in the city budget to begin this year.

There have been several meetings with the residents, the business community and the Paul Revere House to discuss the plans. Other meetings will be held for final design approval by the community in general.

Boston City Councilor Sal LaMattina was instrumental in having both projects placed on the budget along with other projects like the Cutillo Park on Stillman Street and Paul Revere Mall (Prado).
