Part-One Crime Continues to Decrease in North End

Part-One Crime in the North End/Waterfront continues to decrease according to District A1 Police Commanding Officer Captain William Fong who presented the statistics at the March monthly Public Safety meeting held in the Nazzaro Community Center.

He was joined by North End/Waterfront Neighborhood Residence’ Association (NEWRA) Public Safety Chairperson David Marks, Sergeant James Chin and Officer Ted Boyle.

A Part-One chart clearly indicated there was only one increase in any of the ten categories listed, larceny of a vehicle from none in January to only one in February.

Aggravated assaults remain the same, one in each month.

There were no increases in the other eight categories which showed no incidents across the board in the homicide, robberies (person), robberies (businesses), breaking and entering (residence), breaking and entering (commercial), auto theft, larceny (minus car breaks) and rape.

Police noted there was one larceny from a motor vehicle at 117 Salem Street where boots and sunglasses were taken and there was damage to the passengers door.

One domestic violence took place in a vehicle where a woman reported her boyfriend kicked her on Valentine’s Day.

A vehicle was keyed over a dispute over parking act 350 North St. A note was left on the vehicle threatening damage if the car was parked there again.

Two bicycles were stolen in the neighborhood.

The Boston Police Licensing Division shutdown’s Strega on Hanover Street for having an expired common vehicular license, beer, wine and cordial licenses and entertainment license until they were renewed.

One resident complained about sidewalk passage due to tables and chairs, signs and plants blocking access to pedestrians especially handicapped people.
