Time to sign up for 2016 baseball season

Coming off a great 2015 season, the North End Athletic Association (NEAA) has begun registration for their 2016 baseball programs.

Baseball Commissioner Ralph Martignetti is urging parents to register their children as early as possible because the programs fill up quickly and usually a waiting list will be formed.

Baseball programs include: Little League (Majors), Minor League, Traveling Teams, T-Ball and Clinics for beginners.

Sign up early!

Gang activities need to be curbed

Thus far, there have been no gang-related violence in the North End/Waterfront or surrounding areas and hopefully that will not change.

However, gang activities seem to be increasing in many other parts of the city including murders, thugs attempting to recruit members at schools and many other types of crime.

Students should not be intimidated by gang members while they are attending school, an event, shopping malls or anywhere else and they need to contact police and their parents immediately if they are approached or threatened in any way shape or form.

The Review totally agrees with Boston Police Commissioner William B. Evans that the city should be bonding with students so that they don’t feel intimidated and they feel that they have no place to turn.

“Joining a gang is not a kids game-there are some serious consequences,” said Commissioner Evans.

Library offers great homework assistance

One of the many programs available at the North End Library is homework help for students with mentorship provided by high-achieving high school students.

This is an important and helpful program open to students grade K-8 with no registration required.

Students that need some homework assistance should attend this worthwhile program offered by the library.
