Cameras are A Valuable Tool to Convict Criminals

Suffolk County District Attorney Dan Conley has openly expressed his support for the use of body cameras on police officers and also favors more video surveillance in Boston public areas, so long as there is a balance between public safety and privacy.

The Review believes the use of video in both cases could be a huge benefit for prosecution efforts that will make a real difference.

There are still many challenges to put a program like this together including financing it but if it weren’t for cameras, the Federal Government would not have been able to convict Dzhokar Tsarnaev for his own involvement in the 2013 Boston Marathon bombings.

Videos can also deter crime if criminals are aware they can be “Caught on Camera.”
