MBTA Parking Lot Payment Instructions

With the end of the antiquated ‘honor box’ payment system at MBTA parking lots last July, the T would like to remind customers about proper procedures for using the easier, more convenient PayByPhone, or simply receiving a monthly invoice in the mail.

PayByPhone allows customers to pay parking fees by using any phone or internet connected device. Customers can call 1-866-234-7275, or use the PayByPhone app. Customers can sign up for PayByPhone at www.paybyphone.com.

Customers who have opted not to use PayByPhone will be mailed a monthly invoice at the address listed on the vehicle owner’s registration. Customers using the invoice method will pay 50 cents more than PayByPhone customers.

Customers may also log-in to www.parkingticketpayment.com/mbta each evening to view and pay their invoice. For online payments, customers simply click the first button, select a state and enter his/her license plate number. Invoices are displayed in groups of 10 per page. There is no online fee for 30 days from the invoice date.

For leased vehicles, customers should notify the leasing company to forward the invoice to the responsible driver in a timely manner or follow the online payment instructions to avoid having an invoice being generated and sent to the leasing company.

For those paying in advance every morning via PayByPhone, customers should not be receiving invoices in the mail.

If a customer is receiving invoices, he/she should check that the license plate information is entered correctly in PayByPhone and are paying first thing in the morning when parking. For example: MA-(XYZ123), only the characters in parenthesis should be entered in the PayByPhone plate field. It’s important to properly distinguish between letters and numbers such as 0 vs. O, I vs 1, and L. If receiving invoices due to a plate error or late payment, customers don’t need to appeal. They can simply email [email protected] for assistance.
