Illegal immigrants and other fraudsters from out-of-state have apparently been able to obtain fake Massachusetts licenses according to an internal audit that comes as Governor Charlie Baker axed a company charged with fixing the out-of-date registry system that has been plagued with apparent glitches.
Reportedly, the system isn’t equipped to converse out-of-state licenses and it has increased vulnerability for identifying fraud.
New work is currently taking place to correct and replace the departments ancient Item Automated License and Registration System to make sure that this time fraud doesn’t occur again and that’s great.
However, part of the fix should be attempting to identify how many and who has obtained these fraudulent licenses.
