It might be Revere Beach, but it didn’t stop a North End landmark – the Old North Church (and the Zakim Bridge in the background) from sprouting out of the sand as the International Sand Sculpting Festival on Revere Beach kicked off in earnest Monday morning. Sculptors will be working on the centerpiece sculpture – which is a tribute to Massachusetts landmarks – through the week, and will start on solo and doubles competition sculptures on Wednesday. The overall Festival begins on Friday, July 24 and concludes on Sunday evening, July 26. There will be fireworks on Saturday over the Beach, a Food Truck Festival all weekend and numerous other novelties to see and behold.
