NEWNC totally disregards abutters’ concerns
The North End/Waterfront Neighborhood Council (NEWNC) was elected by residents to represent their interests and concerns, not their personal opinion on each issue that goes before them.
Case in point, every abutter to a proposal at 3-5 Quincy Place, that attended the Council’s June public monthly meeting in one way or another oppose the proposal as stipulated.
Many concerns were raised including Floor Area Ratio (FAR) fire safety, parking and much more.
It was extremely clear that the residents the Council are supposed to represent, didn’t do a good job of it, voting to support the proposal.
A classic we’ll do as we please with total disregard to abutters that have to live with the negative situation.
Cameras will help apprehend criminals
Mounting cameras in crime ridden areas of the city and to provide funds to install them on businesses as well will definitely help police to solve crimes in most cases.
Mayor Martin J. Walsh and Police Commissioner William B. Evans have made this suggestion and will ask the City Council and Legislature for the necessary funding for the City’s Department of Neighborhood Development to make this possible.
It’s a good public safety tool to help apprehend criminals that have committed crimes and get them prosecuted.
If the money is appropriated, hopefully a few cameras will be placed in the North End.
A terrific gesture by NEAA
This year’s (2015) North End Athletic Association (NEAA) Major League All Star Game (June 26) will be played in honor and memory of lifelong NEAA member and President for many years Dom Campocchiaro.
Dom passed away just over a year ago leaving a legacy playing, coaching and teaching the game of baseball to local players for close to 60 years, even before the NEAA was founded.
Coach Dom will always be remembered by the numerous players he took under his belt during his volunteer efforts in the community.
Support NEMPAC 2015 Opera Project
North End Music and Performing Arts Center (NEMPAC) is seeking sponsors for their 2015 Opera Project which allows the non-profit community organization fund their artists, orchestra and children’s chorus.
The project entails a four night run of Puccini’s La Boheme at two venues.
Individual and business sponsorships are being accepted for these terrific opera performances and to benefit NEMPAC programs.
