Ruff’s Endeavor for a Dog Park Becomes a Reality

The opening of a pilot dog park in DiFilippo Park (Gassy) on Prince Street is a giant step forward toward keeping the North End clean and healthy.

This long-standing endeavor’s positive results is due to the endless work of Responsible Urbanites For Fido (RUFF), a non-profit volunteer group of people that reside in the neighborhood.

For several years, RUFF made great strides in getting dog owners to abide by the rules by being good neighbors.

The group has distributed flyers, held public meetings and events to get this message out to the abusers who still don’t do the right thing on behalf of the neighborhood.

RUFF continues to do these things and much more to help make the neighborhood a better place to live.

On Friday, May 1 at 5pm, RUFF’s intense efforts to have a dog park in the neighborhood will become a reality.

Now it’s up to dog owners to utilize the park by walking their pets to the Gassy where there is a controlled environmental area.

The new dog park was also made possible by the Boston Parks Department which will help prepare and maintain the space.
