Mayor Issues 20 Page Report on BRA Performance

A 20 page report that offers an in-depth look at how the Boston Redevelopment Authority (BRA) has improved its transparency, accountability and operations in the past year through a series of policy reforms, personnel changes and investments in technology has been released by Mayor Martin Walsh and BRA Director Brian Golden.

Many times over several years, the BRA has come under fire by neighborhoods including the North End for their decisions on issues that directly affect the community in spite of their opposition to proposal plans.

The report, entitled Building the New Boston Redevelopment Authority is divided into four sections. Improving policies and protocol, modernizing systems and organizational structure, maximizing BRA/EDIC assets and enhancing fiscal accountability and nurturing opportunities and financial empowerment among residents.

“The fact that we were able to make so many important reforms at the BRA while supporting four billion in new construction that broke ground last year, speaks volumes about the new leadership of the organization and the talented staff they have around them,” said Mayor Walsh in a press release. “This report highlights all of the progress we have made so far, but our work is not over. We will continue to make adjustments so that we keep building trust and confidence in the BRA.”
