North End Part 1 Crimes Still Low

NEWRA Public Safety chair John Pregmon (second from left) joined District A-1 Boston Police at public meeting.

Captain Kenneth Fong, Commanding Officer District A-1 Boston Police, told residents at last week’s North End Public Safety Committee meeting that “crime in the North End continues to be low.”

He reported on Part 1 crime over the past 30 or so days compared to the same period of time in 2013.

The only categories that increased were, larceny, which jumped from 3-6, auto theft from 0-1, while breaking and entering decreased from 5-1.

All the other Part 1 crime, homicide, sexual assaults, robberies, aggravated assaults, larceny from motor vehicle, graffiti and community disorder remain the same at 1 or 0.

Towed cars jumped from 4-12, motor vehicle violations issued were 112 and 271 parking citations were given.

Thirty-five Eliot School students visited District A-1 and presented cards thanking Boston Police for the good job they do. They were treated to hot chocolate and cookies.

One Officer, Ted Boyle, was honored in December for his outstanding work with the community. He was presented a plaque at the North End Christmas Benefit Luncheon.

The next Public Safety Committee monthly meeting will be held on Thursday, February 5 at 6:30pm in the Nazzaro Community Center.
