Governor Baker Must Resolve RMV Schemes

One of the major issues Governor Charlie Baker must tackle as soon as possible is a Registry of Motor Vehicles (RMV) bribery and corruption charges now that he is officially seated in the big chair at the State House.

                A federal probe of the department has apparently uncovered a case of bribery of an RMV clerk of allegedly taking money from an illegal immigrant in exchange for false IDs.

                Reportedly, the Massachusetts licenses (29) were sold for $1,000 each.

                The illegal immigrant arrested is not the first of his kind charged in a scheme to produce false identification documents using Puerto Rican social security numbers according to the US District Attorney’s Office press release.

                Obviously, this scheme has not happened on Baker’s watch and the past administration reportedly chose not to enforce the reform charges made by the Legislature.

                However, now that the cat is once again out of the bag, it falls on Baker’s watch to do something to prevent this from reoccurring.
