Rink/Restaurant/Lounge Slated for City Hall Plaza

Boston City Hall Plaza, a really barren area, could be converted it into a winter wonderland with an Olympic sized ice skating rink and a large glass restaurant and lounge overlooking the rink.

Reportedly, the Frozen Harbor skating ring and a 20,000 square foot Polar Bar will open soon on the Plaza, according to a Craig list help wanted ad and Winter’s Landing Facebook page.

The Plaza will apparently be transformed into a centerpiece for autumn and winter public events and gatherings if approved by the city.

Since being elected, Mayor Martin J. Walsh has reflected a willingness to look into creative ways to open up Plaza space for the general public’s use, including expanding the city’s mobile food truck program through the winter. Many other events and activities have taken place since the Mayor took office.

Unconfirmed potential plans include a two-story, full service Polar Bar Restaurant and Lounge, with 46 foot ceilings and 360 degree glass walls.

The business will be open seven days a week and serve a contemporary menu for brunch, lunch, dinner and a late night noshing, according to the ad seeking employees for immediate hire.

Apparently, Anthem Entertainment, a Boston based company, is in line to operate Winter’s Landing.
