North End Needs a Permanent Dog Park

A temporary dog park to be located in the DiFilippo Playground (Gassy) has gained the support of abutters and the community groups setting the stage for a potential permanent dog park down the road.

The three-month pilot program will start on May 1 and run through the end of July due to a long term endeavor by Responsible Urbanites For Fido (RUFF) working with the City of Boston and a grant from Stanton Foundation which will reportedly help finance a permanent dog park if the pilot program works out and the community supports it.

Plans call for dispensers, some power washing and fences that will be locked during the area closure at dusk. Boston Parks Department will maintain the area for the duration of the pilot program.

A dog park is needed in the North End and thanks to the hard and dedicated work of RUFF, a good start has taken place.

Hopefully, things work out in a positive manner as the community endorses the idea of a permanent park.
