Following 30 years as the Director of ABCD’s North End/West End Neighborhood Service Center, Lia Tota has stepped down from her community position on August 29.
However, Tota will stay with the organization on a part-time basis as a community advocate with a focus on the West End neighborhood.
“Working part-time will allow me to spend more time with my children and grandchildren and to pursue other interests in activities,” Tota said.
“I look forward to seeing everyone in the community as we continue the invaluable work that we do for our neighborhoods,” she added.
Marie Stella Gulla who has worked at the Center since 1996, will be assuming the position of Executive Director.
“ABCD couldn’t be placing the agency in the hands of a more capable leader,” Tota said. “She grew up in the North End, lived in Boston and Italy, so she has many years of experience dealing with the elderly, immigrants and families,” Tota noted. “She also brings expertise in finance technology and non-profit management.”
Many residents, community organizations and elected officials agreed that Tota has done an outstanding job at the helm of the neighborhood agency.
