Volunteers needed for Greenway major cleanup

National Public Parks Day will be celebrated on the Greenway with a major cleanup program with as many volunteers as possible.

The Conservancy is seeking groups or individuals to help with projects along the popular park.

Projects will include, weeding, planting and cleanup tasks from 9am to 12noon.

Many local residents enjoyed this gem of a park for many reasons and the Conservancy has provided numerous events and activities for people to enjoy.

It would be great if a large turnout found their way to the Greenway to participate in this major project.

NEWNC member actively pursuing Public Safety consistency

North End/Waterfront Neighborhood Council (NEWNC), Public Safety Chair David Marx has been extremely active in making the community public safety meeting more reliable and informative.

Back to the way it used to be and the way residents liked it.

David has clearly indicated that having public safety meetings in the neighborhood is a necessary priority and that all parties need to make sure these informational meetings take place.

When residents leave the public meetings they should feel that there is a solid working relationship with District A-1 Boston Police.

Marx is a community elected NEWNC Board member.

ZBA Subcommittee a good move

Establishing a streamline Zoning Board of Appeal that will cut-down the length of waiting time for minor variance requests to be approved for small businesses or family owned home, was a solid move by Boston Mayor Martin J. Walsh.

The move will definitely speed-up the process and encourage small businesses and homeowners to improve their property by being eliminated from the time-consuming major development process, that can take forever.

Having the subcommittee meetings on Thursday evenings will also make it much easier for applicants and residents to attend and present their opinions on each request.

It’s a move that should have been done a long time ago.
