Boston’s Inauguration Day brought many activities with Mayor Marty Walsh, including his first official address to Boston’s City Council. For the North End, Charlestown and East Boston, City Councilor Salvatore LaMattina started his 7th year representing District 1 on the City Council.
It was generally a celebratory mood at City Hall, although there was some business to begin the new year. Bill Linehan of South Boston was elected President of the City Council in an 8-5 vote, staving off a public challenge at the meeting by Councilor-at-Large Ayanna Pressley.
