Commercial trash pick-up bill foiled

An ordinance, filed in the Boston City Council several months ago that would give the City of Boston the authority to regulate the times that commercial trash can be picked up in the City, is in limbo and appears it will not find its way out of the Council’s Government Committee.

The home rule petition was co-sponsored by Councilors Felix Arroyo and Mike Ross and supported by Councilor Sal LaMattina.

North End/Waterfront residents have, for some time now, expressed concerns of early morning noise disturbances created by commercial trash pick-up.

Reportedly, the ordinance was trashed because of committed contracts with companies with pick-up time phases already built it.
