The Indians and Cubs played a very entertaining game last night.  The Indians scored 6 runs in the first inning on a walk by Vinny Coppola a single by Jase Cherchi a two run triple by Nick Shea who stole home a walk to Zach Taieb a base hit by Antonio Romano would plate the fourth run Antonio would move to third when a walk by Brianna Woods followed by a strikeout and then another walk to Calvin Szulic followed by an RBI walk to Charlie the next batter would strike out Alessia Pantaleo would get up with the bases loaded and two outs and after a tough at bat where Alessia fouled off two pitches with two strikes would eventually get hit by a pitch to score the 6th and last run of the inning.  Vinny Coppola would walk the lead off hitter the second batter Lawrence Chan would hit a smash to first where Zach Taieb would make a nice play to get an out at first Colman Shea would follow with a single up the middle but Calvin Szulic would get the ball in fast to the cutoff man Nick Shea and the Cubs held the runner at third base Vinny would strike out the next two batters to end the inning.  It remained 6 – 0 for the next inning as both Vinny Coppola and Lawrence would strike out the side.  The Indians brought rookie Charlie Griffin to pitch the 3rd inning Charlie would strike out a batter and walk Stephanie (fill in last name)  before facing 2nd place hitter Lawrence Chan who would hit a hard grounder back to the pitcher who made a nice play but the hurried throw got past Zach Taieb at first Stephanie would hustle all the way from second to score the cubs first run of the game.  The Indians would change pitchers and bring Zach Taieb into the game to face Colman Shea after a tough at bat Colman would coax a walk on a close full count pitch Zach would brush the walk off and strikeout the next batter.  In the top of the fourth the Indians would threaten again loading the bases on walks to Calvin Szulic, Domenic Orlando and Charlie Griffin this is where the game got interesting as the pitcher would walk another batter but the Indians would not score as Colman Shea the catcher would throw the ball to Isabella (Izzy) Delpechio and get all three runners out at the plate who tried to score on wild pitches.  Isabella Vilar would work the bottom of the fourth and get two strikeouts but give up a hit and a hit batter before Zach Taieb once again was summoned this time to face the hot hitting Lawrence Chan Zach would make quick work of Lawrence this time striking him out.  The Indians would go quietly as Marcos Soto would strike out the top of the Indian order.  Zach Taieb would face Colman Shea to lead off the bottom of the fifth and would strike him out the Indians once again switched pitchers as Brianna Woods would come in and promptly give up a run    on a base hit by Marcos Soto who plated Peter Shea and another run on a wild pitch but would get out of it by getting two ground balls to Jase Cherchi at short stop who would throw to Zach Taieb at first.  The Indians would go quietly again in the top of the sixth as Marcos Soto would add another two strikeouts to his total.   Alessia Pantaleo would start the bottom of the sixth walking two batters before Vinny Coppola was summoned to get the Indians out of trouble he would strike out the last three batters to end the game.

 Cards beat Cubs

The Cardinals scored 2 runs without the benefit of a hit in the top of the 1st and never looked back.  Francesca Rubino and Owen Locke scored the 2 runs.  In the 2nd, 4 walks and a hit batsman led to 2 runs and Locke tripled to clear the bases for a 7-0 Cardinal lead. Jared Repoza made the play of the game in the bottom of the 3rd with 2 outs and a man on 1st.  Colman Shea scorched a liner up the middle and Rapoza lunged and grabbed the ball before it could cause trouble. In the top of the 4th, the Cardinals extended the lead on back to back doubles by Locke and Oliver Franklin. The Cubs cut into the lead with 3 runs in the bottom of the 4th without a hit.  The clubs each scored 2 runs in the 5th, with Shea driving in both Cub runs with a double off the right center field fence. The Cardinals broke the game open in the top of the 6th.  Rubino drove in a run with a walk,  JC Pezzuto drove in 2 with a double that bounced over the fence in left center.  Locke sent 2 more home with a double and Rapoza drove in the final run with a triple, but was caught trying to stretch his hit into a homer. Franklin, Rubino and Francesco Santaniello pitched well for the Cardinals and Marcos Soto was the most effective Cubs pitcher.

 Indians edge Tigers

The Indians capped off a great weekend by beating the Tigers 11-10.  This is just the last chapter of a rivalry that goes back about 4 years it seems no matter the faces these teams always play close, exciting and entertaining games last night was no exception.  Vinny Coppola led the game off with a base hit that was followed by Jase Cherchi hitting the ball to deep center field but Evan Frechette ran it down for an out the hot hitting Nick Shea stepped up and promptly rapped a RBI single to plate Vinny with the first run.  Fortunato would strike out the next two batters to end the top of the first.  Nick Shea would start the game Nick would be wild as he walked both Edward & DJ to make it first and second with one out Phil would get another walk and the bases would be loaded after striking out the next batter Evan Frechette would get a two run single to give the Tigers a lead of 2-1 Nick would strike out the next batter ending the first inning.  Fortunato would strike out the side in the top of the second Nick would walk the first batter but would get a ground ball hit back to him and two strikeouts to get out of the second inning.  The Tigers would score 3 runs in the bottom of the 3rd to open up a little breathing room.  as Fortunato, Evan and Nicks S would score runs the RBI’s went to Alex, DJ and Edward. The Indians would score 4 runs in the top of the fourth when Vinny Coppola would single which was followed by a Jase Cherchi single and a 2 rbi single by Zach Taieb who’s night was just starting.  Zach Taieb would score when Calvin worked a bases loaded walk that was followed by a wild pitch that would score Antonio.  The Tigers would rally back to take the lead when Phil, Fort would single and Edward would hit an inside the park homer which made the score 8-5 Tigers going into the top of the 5th.  The Tiger pitcher would get wild and walk 4 batters in a row Isabella Vilar would score the sixth run Domenic would make it 8-7 and then on a base hit by Jase Cherchi Alessia Pantaleo would tie the score when she crossed the plate. The Tigers would score 2 more runs to break the tie in the bottom of the fifth when the Indians  relief pitcher had trouble finding the plate as he walked 4 batters and hit a batter RBI went to Richard and DJ as Phil, Evan & Fort all walked.  The score was 10-8 Tigers to start the 6th inning Zach Taieb hit a tape measure shot over the trees it was reminiscent of a Home Run the Tigers had hit against the Indians but this may have gone even farther to make the score 10-9 this seemed to rattle the Tiger pitcher as he would walk the next three batters before striking out the next two with up to the plate came Domenic Orlando who walked to tie the score and Alessia would walk to force the winning run home before the Tigers made the last out striking out the batter.  The Indians called on Vinny Coppola to close the game out and he struck out the first batter before walking Alex unfortunately, for the Tigers the next two batters struck out to end the game.  Besides the plays that Evan and DJ made in the field Isabella Vilar made to great plays at third base.
