Lt. Col Joseph Ciampa (Ret.)

Air Force Officer and Educator

Lt. Col. Joseph J. Ciampa (retired) born in the North End of  Boston on October 24, 1932, died at home surrounded by his family on January 7 after a brief battle with cancer,

Col. Ciampa was a Master Navigator in the USAF for 21 years. After retiring from the Air Force, he received two Masters Degrees in education and administration from Bridgewater State College. He went on to teach JR Air Force ROTC at Quincy High School for 20 years. Some of his many proud accomplishments included being a finalist in the 1955 Olympic Trials throwing the Javelin, being lead navigator refueling the first non-stop flight of a B-52 circumventing the globe, and being a Vietnam Veteran. Col. Ciampa was many things to many people: an adored husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and teacher. He loved to travel with his family, coach, teach, bowl, Friday nights and the dog track. He was always the life of the party and will be missed by everyone.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Mary A. (Monteforte) Ciampa; his children, John L. Ciampa and his wife, Vikki of Buzzards Bay, Donna DeStefano and her husband, David of Plymouth, Michelle Tourjee and her husband, Eric of Mashpee, Joseph and Jill Ciampa of Pocasset, and Deena Mozeleski and her husband, John of Forestdale. He also leaves his brother, John Ciampa of Florida and his sister, Maria Ciampa of Boston; 15 grandchildren: Jeffery, Michael and Joanna Ciampa, Jacob, Leigh and Samuel DeStefano, Eric and Daniel Tourjee, Kristie, Karlie and Joseph J Ciampa III and Maria, Sophia, John and Nicholas Mozeleski. Funeral arrangements were by the Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, Bourne. Burial was in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. Joseph Caputo

Retired Dry Cleaner

Joseph A. Caputo, a long time resident of Revere, died on November 13 after a long illness at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. He was 92 years old.

Mr. Caputo was born in Boston’s North End and lived in Revere for more than 60 years. He spent most of his working career as a Presser and Dry Cleaner for several firms within Boston’s Garment District.

He was the husband of the late Carmela J. (Cantino) who died in December of 2010 and is the beloved father of Angela J. Tabb and her husband, Robert, Joseph A. Caputo Jr. and his wife, Mary Lou, all of Florida; Camille M. Punch and her husband, William A. Punch of Boston’s Back Bay and Joanne T. Caputo-Carfagna and her husband, Alfred of Revere; the loving grandfather of Denise and Jeffrey Tarro, both of New Hampshire, Devon Punch of Tewksbury and Anthony J. Caputo of New York City. He is also lovingly survived by his great granddaughter, Chelsey Iowa of New Hampshire. He was the dear brother of Jennie Boccuzzi of Revere and the late Viola Hoffa. He also leaves several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Funeral Mass on Saturday, January 21 at 10 a.m. in the Immaculate Conception Church, Revere.
